Climate landscape

Japanese: 気候景観 - きこうけいかん

A general term for landscapes that directly or indirectly reflect the climatic environment of a location. Climate landscapes can be divided into natural landscapes and human landscapes based on their content. The former are cases where the effects of climate play an important role in the formation of natural landscapes. Vegetation landscapes, in particular, depend on so-called natural characteristics such as climate and soil, and their external features reflect regional characteristics well. In other words, the cause-effect relationship of geographical phenomena can be well explained through the medium of vegetation landscapes.

ある場所の気候環境を，直接あるいは間接的に反映している景観を総称していう。気候景観を内容から区別すると，自然景観的な気候景観と人文景観的な気候景観に分けることができる。前者は，特に気候の作用が自然景観の形成に重要な役割を果たしている場合である。なかでも植生景観は，気候･土壌などのいわゆる自然界の特性に依存し，その外形上の特徴が地域性をよく反映している。すなわち，地理的現象の原因･結果の関係が，植生景観を媒介にしてよく説明することができる。
