Onotsu

...A port town in Chikuzen Province (present-day Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City).
[Ancient and Middle Ages]
In ancient times it was called Nanotsu or Nanootsu, and from the mid-8th century it was called Hakata, and in the Middle Ages it was also known as Sekijo and Reizei-tsu. Initially it was known as Dazai Hakata-tsu and served as the outer port of Dazaifu.
