The Omi Uprising, in cooperation with Azai and Asakura, advanced on Kyoto from the west coast of Lake Biwa, while the Nagashima Uprising, led by Gansho-ji Temple, attacked Oginojo Castle in Owari and forced Nobunaga's younger brother, Nobuoki, to commit suicide. Having escaped from a difficult situation through the first peace treaty, which had been effected by the Imperial Court and Shogun Ashikaga Yoshiaki, Nobunaga first attacked the Nagashima Uprising in January 1871, but was defeated. …
