Japanese: 後ガス(跡ガス) - あとガス（英語表記）fume

Gas generated from explosives during blasting operations. Its main components are carbon dioxide (carbonic acid gas), nitrogen gas, and water vapor, but it can also contain toxic carbon monoxide and nitric oxide, which can be inhaled and cause poisoning if they are not dispersed properly in a narrow space such as a tunnel. Although it is not a harmful gas, it can cause problems due to a lack of oxygen (so-called oxygen deficiency), so care must be taken not to enter such places immediately after blasting operations, and sufficient air must be supplied to dissipate the gas.

爆破作業を行った際に，火薬類から発生するガス。二酸化炭素(炭酸ガス)，窒素ガス，水蒸気を主成分とするが，有毒の一酸化炭素，酸化窒素などを含むことがあり，坑道内などの狭い場所で拡散が不十分な場合に，これを吸引して中毒をひきおこすことがある。有害ガスではないが，酸素不足(いわゆる酸欠)による障害をおこすこともあるので，爆破作業の直後には，このような場所には立ち入らないように注意し，また，十分な空気を送ってガスを散逸させる必要がある。
