Yasu [town] - Yasu
A former town in Asakura County, central Fukuoka Prefecture. Occupying the southwestern slope of the Mikuni Mountains and the alluvial fan in the northern part of the Chikushi Plain, rice farming is thriving, and vegetables, fruit, and livestock are also cultivated. National Routes 200 and 386 pass through the town, and many people commute to Fukuoka City. In March 2005, it merged with Miwa Town, Asakura County, to become a town called Chikuzen Town. 45.47 km2 . Population: 16,763 (2003).

Yasu [town] [Yasu]

A former town in Kami District, eastern Kochi Prefecture. It occupies the Yasu River basin and faces Tosa Bay. Rice and vegetable cultivation is thriving on the plains along the river. Teitei Port is a fishing port built in the Edo period. In March 2006, it merged with Akaoka Town, Kagami Town, Noichi Town, and Yoshikawa Village in Kami District to become a city, Konan City. Area: 39.04 km2. Population: 4,450 (2003).

高知県東部,香美(かみ)郡の旧町。夜須川流域を占め,土佐湾に臨む。川沿いの平地では米作のほか野菜栽培が盛ん。手結(てい)港は江戸時代に築かれた漁港。2006年3月,香美郡赤岡町,香我美町,野市町,吉川村と合併し市制,香南市となる。39.04km2。4450人(2003)。
