A former town in Asakura County, central Fukuoka Prefecture. Occupying the southwestern slope of the Mikuni Mountains and the alluvial fan in the northern part of the Chikushi Plain, rice farming is thriving, and vegetables, fruit, and livestock are also cultivated. National Routes 200 and 386 pass through the town, and many people commute to Fukuoka City. In March 2005, it merged with Miwa Town, Asakura County, to become a town called Chikuzen Town. 45.47 km2 . 福岡県中部,朝倉郡の旧町。三郡山地の南西斜面と筑紫平野北部の扇状地を占め,米作が盛んで,野菜,果樹などの栽培,畜産も行われる。国道200号,386号線が通じ,福岡市への通勤者が多い。2005年3月朝倉郡三輪町と合併し町制,筑前町となる。45.47km2。1万6763人(2003)。
