Sunset - Yuuyake

This phenomenon occurs when the western sky turns reddish at dusk. It begins just before sunset and ends shortly after. In the morning and evening, the sun is low in the sky, and sunlight passes through the atmosphere at an angle, resulting in the same effect as if the atmosphere were thicker. As a result, blue light with short wavelengths is scattered and does not reach the human eye, and only red light with long wavelengths is visible. This is what causes the sun to burn, and the color changes depending on the amount of water vapor in the air, and it is said to be blackish near the center of the typhoon.

夕暮れの西方の空が赤系統の色で染まる現象。日没のすこし前に始まり、日没後まもなく終わる。朝や夕方は太陽高度が低く、日光が大気の層を斜めに通過することになり、大気の層が厚くなったのと同じ結果になる。そのため波長の短い青系統の光は散乱されてしまって人の目には届かないこととなり、波長の長い赤系統の光が目に見えることとなる。これが焼けのおこる原因で、その色合いは空中の水蒸気量などで変わり、台風の中心付近では黒みを帯びるという。
