However, the area fisheries that include other areas such as staghorn aquaculture, algae culture, pearl oyster culture, small-scale aquaculture, oyster culture, and sea-beaching shellfish culture, are called specific area fisheries. As fishing rights managed by fishing cooperatives, they are licensed preferentially to fishing cooperatives, and their members exercise the fishing rights based on the fishing rights exercise rules. As of 1993, there were a total of 10,737 area fisheries in the ocean, of which 10,138 were first class, 254 were second class, 338 were third class, and 7 were combined first and third classes, and 1,002 were inland waters. …
