In the study of ancient records of Baltic mythology, the posthumous work Latvian-Prussian Mythology (1936) by Wilhelm Mannhard (1831-80), who also wrote Latvian Sun Mythology (1875), remains a fundamental text that remains valuable even today. In addition, Moscow linguist Vyacheslav Vsevolodvich Ivanov (1929- ), Vladimir Nikolaevich Toporov (1928- ), and Lithuanian-born archaeologist Marija Gimbutas (1921- ), who lives in the United States, have also made significant contributions to Baltic mythology, incorporating Biezais's research. …
