…As transportation, communication, and financial institutions develop, trade areas expand and trade with distant places becomes more active. In many cases, it becomes impossible for one carrier to transport the entire distance by himself, and several carriers need to transport the goods successively. Successive transport can be classified into the following cases: (1) several carriers independently undertake the transportation of each specific distance (partial transport), (2) one carrier undertakes the transportation of the entire distance and has other carriers transport the whole or part of it (subcontracted transport), (3) several carriers jointly undertake the transportation of the entire distance and determine the distance each carrier is responsible for within the internal relationship (same transport), and (4) several carriers take turns receiving the goods with one waybill and engaging in the transportation (joint transport, joint transport). …交通，通信および金融の各機関が発達するにつれて，取引地域が拡大し，遠隔地との取引が盛んになり，一運送人が，自分で全区間の運送をすることが不可能な場合も多くなり，数人の運送人が相次いで運送することが必要となる。　相次運送には，(1)数人の運送人がそれぞれ独立して，各特定区間の運送を引き受ける場合(部分運送)，(2)一運送人が全部の区間の運送を引き受け，その全部または一部を他の運送人に運送させる場合(下請運送)，(3)数人の運送人が共同して全部の区間の運送を引き受け，内部関係においてそれぞれの担当区間を定める場合(同一運送)，(4)数人の運送人が順次に，1通の運送状とともに運送品を受け取って運送に従事する場合(共同運送，連帯運送)がある。このうち，下請運送，同一運送および共同運送，連帯運送を通し運送といい，この運送の型態が現代において盛んになっている。…
