Hiroshi Ishii - Ishiikan

Born: February 7, 1901, Tokyo
[Died] April 29, 1972. Tokyo Shinpa actor. Real name Ishii Seiichi. His father was the 4th generation Rakugo performer Sanshoutei Kokatsu. In 1919, he became the apprentice of Bunraku puppeteer Takemoto Tsutayu 3rd and took the name Takemoto Tsukomatayu, but left the troupe when he was due for military conscription and became a film actor for Shochiku Kamata in 1922. In 1927, he joined the Shingeki Kyokai, and the following year, at the recommendation of Kubota Mantaro, he joined Shinpa and studied under Kitamura Rokuro. In 1939, he formed the Shinsei Shinpa company with Hanayagi Shotaro and others. He was active as a leading man in Shinpa after that, and was also popular in TV dramas such as "My Wife and I". His eldest daughter, Ishii Fukuko, is famous as a famous TV producer.

新派俳優。本名石井清一。父は落語家の4世三升亭小勝。 1919年文楽の3世竹本津太夫に入門して竹本津駒太夫を名のったが，徴兵検査を機に退座し，22年松竹蒲田の映画俳優となった。 27年新劇協会に参加，翌年久保田万太郎にすすめられて新派に入り，喜多村緑郎に師事した。 39年花柳章太郎らと新生新派を結成。以後新派の二枚目として活躍する一方，『カミさんと私』などテレビドラマでも親しまれた。長女の石井ふく子はテレビの名プロデューサーとして有名。
