...It is also written as 'Rido', 'Rito', 'Risho', etc. In a broad sense, it is used as a general term for Korean writing using the sounds and readings of Chinese characters, and may include proper nouns and official titles from the Three Kingdoms period, but in a narrow sense, it is a type of variant Chinese writing written according to Korean syntax, as distinguished from 'Kyousatsu' and 'Koketsu' (described below), and refers to Korean words added to Chinese words. Some are still difficult to decipher, but most are writings of particles and conjugated forms of verbs, such as the " " part in the following example, and some nouns and adverbs are also included (the part in parentheses indicates the sound of the part in question). ...

…吏道，吏吐，吏書などとも書く。広義には，漢字の音や訓を利用して行った朝鮮語表記の総称としても用いられ，三国時代の固有名詞や官職名の表記を含めていうこともあるが，狭義では，郷札（きようさつ），口訣（こうけつ）(後述)と区別して，朝鮮語の構文に従って書き下した一種の変体漢文で，漢字語に添加する朝鮮語を書き表したものをいう。　解読にまだ問題のあるものもあるが，たとえば次の例の“　”部分のように，助辞や用言の活用形を表記したものが主であり，名詞，副詞なども一部含まれる(カッコ内は当該部分の音を示す)。…
