Papal Grace Office - Papal Grace Office

Japanese: 教皇授恵庁 - きょうこうじゅけいちょう
Papal Grace Office - Papal Grace Office

[History]
The Holy See originally consisted of the Pope's personal priests and the bishops in the vicinity of Rome, but as the Church developed it expanded and differentiated, and in the 11th century it came to be called the Roman Curia. Until just before the reforms of Pope Paul VI (1967), it was composed of 12 Congregations, three courts (the Court of Penitence, the Court of Appeal, and the Court of Cassation), and five offices (the Congregation of the Pontifical Office, the Congregation of Pontifical Grace, which handles the allocation of stipends, the Congregation of the Treasury, the Secretariat of State, and the Congregation of Letters). Many of the Congregations were established in the 16th century, but the predecessor of the oldest Congregation, the Congregation of Inquisition, established in 1542, was the 13th century Inquisition.

*Some of the terminology used to refer to the "Congregation of Pontificals" is listed below.
