Kiwao Okumura

Japanese: 奥村喜和男 - おくむらきわお

1900-1969 A bureaucrat in the early Showa period.
Born on January 4, 1900. After working at the Ministry of Communications and the Manchurian Telecommunications Company, he joined the Planning Board in 1937 and drafted the National Mobilization Act. He became deputy director of the Information Bureau in the Tojo Cabinet, where he led the censorship of speech and was known as a reformist bureaucrat. After the war, he served as president of Toyo Tsusho (now Toyo Technical Corporation). He passed away on August 19, 1969. He was 69 years old. He was from Fukuoka Prefecture and graduated from Tokyo Imperial University. His works include "Reform in Japanese Politics."

明治33年1月4日生まれ。逓信省,満州電電などをへて,昭和12年企画院にはいり,国家総動員法を起案。東条内閣の情報局次長となり,言論統制などを指導し,革新官僚として知られた。戦後東陽通商(現東陽テクニカ)社長などをつとめた。昭和44年8月19日死去。69歳。福岡県出身。東京帝大卒。著作に「日本政治の革新」など。
