The main trunk of the lymphatic system that collects lymph from the lower body and the left upper half of the body. It begins in the cisterna chyli in the upper posterior abdominal wall, passes through the diaphragm together with the aorta, ascends in front of the thoracic vertebrae, enters the neck, and opens into the left venous angle (the confluence of the subclavian vein and the internal jugular vein) together with the cervical lymphatic trunk from the left head and the subclavian lymphatic trunk from the left upper limb. 下半身および左側上半身のリンパを集めるリンパ系の本幹。後腹壁上部の乳糜槽(にゅうびそう)に始まり，大動脈とともに横隔膜を貫き，胸椎の前を上り首に入って左の静脈角（鎖骨下静脈と内頸(ないけい)静脈の合流角）に，左の頭部からの頸リンパ本幹，左上肢からの鎖骨下リンパ本幹とともに開く。右側の上半身のリンパを集めるのは右リンパ本幹といい，右の静脈角に注ぐ。→リンパ管
