Battle of Dannoura

Japanese: 壇ノ浦の戦 - だんのうらのたたかい

The final battle between the Genpei and Taira clans at Dannoura in Nagato. After losing the Battle of Yashima, the Taira clan retreated to Shimonoseki and on March 24, 1185, they attacked the Genpei under the command of Minamoto no Yoshitsune at Dannoura. After being defeated, Emperor Antoku drowned and the commander-in-chief, Taira no Munemori, was captured alive, resulting in the downfall of the Taira clan.
