Ilion (English spelling)
A town in central New York State, United States. It faces the Barge Canal, which connects Lake Ontario and the Hudson River. It was settled by Germans in 1725. After E. Remington built a rifle manufacturing factory in 1828, it developed into the center of the arms industry. Currently, typewriters and computers are also manufactured here. Population: 8,888 (1990).
