Yenching Almanac - Yenching Almanac

A book that records the annual events in Beijing during the Qing Dynasty. 1 volume. Written by Dun Chong (1854-1911). Published in the autumn of 1906 by Wende-sai of Beijing Liulichang. Based on the format and content of works such as "Jingchu Saijiki", "Teijing Jingbutsu Lue", and "Jikkakyu Bunkou", this book describes the annual events in Yanjing (the old name of Beijing) and its surrounding areas during the late Qing Dynasty, as well as the customs, sightseeing, arts and crafts, and products, from New Year's Day to New Year's Eve in December. Although this book sometimes contains misconceptions and doubts, it is beautifully and concisely written and objectively summarized, making it useful for learning about the customs, scenic places, and historical sites of Beijing in the late Qing Dynasty. It is also useful for considering the influence of Japanese annual events and folk customs.
