1866‐1943
A French female archaeologist who pioneered Indochinese archaeology. Born in Strasbourg. From 1915 to 1927, she was a researcher at the Geological Survey of Indochina. In 1927, she became a researcher at the Ecole francois excavation de France. Her initial field of activity was paleontology, but she switched to archaeology, and from 1923, she engaged in archaeological excavation surveys under the guidance of H. Manchu. From 1926, she explored the mountain ranges of Hoa Binh, Ninh Binh, and Ha Nam provinces in Vietnam, discovering 33 cave ruins and uncovering the existence of the Hoa Binh culture, which was centered on chipped stone tools.

インドシナ考古学を開拓したフランスの女流考古学者。ストラスブールの生れ。1915‐27年インドシナ地質調査局調査員。27年からフランス極東学院研究員となる。彼女の活動分野は初め古生物学であったが，考古学に転じ，1923年以来，H.マンシュイの指導を受けて遺跡の発掘調査に従事，26年よりベトナムのホアビン，ニンビン，ハナムの諸省の山塊を踏査し，33ヵ所の洞窟遺跡を発見，打製石器を中心としたホアビン文化の存在を明らかにした。
