1866‐1943 A French female archaeologist who pioneered Indochinese archaeology. Born in Strasbourg. From 1915 to 1927, she was a researcher at the Geological Survey of Indochina. In 1927, she became a researcher at the Ecole francois excavation de France. Her initial field of activity was paleontology, but she switched to archaeology, and from 1923, she engaged in archaeological excavation surveys under the guidance of H. Manchu. From 1926, she explored the mountain ranges of Hoa Binh, Ninh Binh, and Ha Nam provinces in Vietnam, discovering 33 cave ruins and uncovering the existence of the Hoa Binh culture, which was centered on chipped stone tools.
