After the Qiang Society and its journal, the Qiang Xue Bao, were banned due to oppression by the Qing Dynasty, it was founded in the Shanghai Concession with the support of Huang Zunxian and others, and with Wang Kangnian as accountant. A total of 69 issues were published in monthly installments from the 1st of the 7th month of the lunar calendar in 1896 (the 22nd year of the Guangxu era) to the 21st of June in 1898. *Some of the terminology explanations that refer to "Kyogakuho" are listed below.
