Located in Kamigyo Ward, Kyoto City. Formerly a government-sponsored shrine. Enshrining Emperor Sutoku and Emperor Junnin. In 1868, the spirit of Emperor Sutoku was brought from Sanuki and enshrined there. In 1874, the spirit of Emperor Junnin was brought from Awaji and enshrined there. 京都市上京区に鎮座。旧官幣大社。崇徳天皇と淳仁天皇をまつる。1868年讃岐(さぬき)から崇徳天皇の霊を迎えてまつったのに始まる。1874年さらに淡路から淳仁天皇の霊を迎えて合祀。例祭は9月21日(崇徳祭),4月14日(淳仁祭)。
