Antigonia

...The Byzantine walls surrounding the town, complete with gates and towers, are partly well preserved, but much of the former structure is in ruins. Antigonia, founded by Antigonus I of Macedonia around 316 BC, was enlarged in 288 BC by Lysimachus and named Nicaea after his wife. After an earthquake in 122, Emperor Hadrian rebuilt the city, but it was briefly sacked by the Goths in 256.
