...After the Yanagawa Incident in 1635 (Kan'ei 12), the domain absorbed trade profits into its treasury, conducted a land survey of the domain, and promoted the separation of soldiers and farmers by concentrating vassals in the castle town and clarifying the status distinction between Funai-shi (samurai living in the castle town) and Zaigo-kyunin (village samurai). These policies were almost completed by the Kanbun Reforms (1660-65) of Oura Gondayu, which improved the land system and tax collection system, abolished the local chigyo system for Funai-shi and reformed the stipend system, expanded the kurairi land by redistributing private land such as temple and shrine land, and promoted the independence of farmers through the equal-field system. In addition, the organizational structure was improved with the development of the castle town and the construction of the domain lord's residence, and the Busan Wakan was relocated and rebuilt to the more convenient Soryang (in Busan city). ...
