Japan's first book on physical science. Aochirinso translated it in 1825 (Bunsei 8) and published it in 1827. It is an excerpt of several dozen chapters on "temper" from Johannes Buys' science book "Natuurkundig Schoolboek" (1798), which he had already translated under the title "Kakubutsu Sohan." Written in classical Chinese, it is abbreviated and difficult to understand. Rinso called "science is the university of morality" and also defined "science is the study of the laws of things," advocating empirical science. The main text begins with a definition of matter and covers 40 topics ranging from mechanics such as gravity and pressure, the properties of gases, liquids and solids, light, color and sound, to natural phenomena such as wind, clouds, thunder, rainbows and tides, and further explains the concepts with 19 diagrams, including some that he made himself. It is notable for its departure from the "study of the ultimate truth" of conceptual speculation based on traditional Song Dynasty philosophy and its modern "search of the ultimate truth" approach. This position was inherited by Kawamoto Komin, Hoashi Banri, Hirose Genkyo and others.
