A volcano on the border between Okayama and Tottori prefectures. It is part of the Daisen volcanic group, and from the east it consists of the three Hiruzen peaks of Shimo-Hiruzen (1,100.3m), Naka-Hiruzen (1,123.3m), and Kami-Hiruzen (1,202m), followed by Futamatayama and Giboshu-san (1,110m) before continuing to Daisen. It erupted after the Quaternary Pleistocene (Pleistocene) and is composed of andesite lava and its agglomerates. There are many virgin beech forests, and alpine plants can be seen near the summit. The Hiruzen plain stretches out on the southern foot of the mountain. There is a course to traverse the three Hiruzen peaks from Kyukamura Hiruzen Kogen, which takes about 8 hours, and the view of Daisen and other peaks from the top of Shimo-Hiruzen is wonderful. It is part of Daisen-Oki National Park. [Shogo Yuihama] [Reference] |Source: Shogakukan Encyclopedia Nipponica About Encyclopedia Nipponica Information | Legend |
