Roundworm - Roundworm

Roundworm - Roundworm

One of the old animal classification names. Nematoda (roundworms, etc.), Nematodes (wireworms, etc.), and Acanthocephala (truncatulas) are grouped together as Circular Animals because they share the same characteristic of a circular cross section of their bodies. They were also once treated as a phylum called Pelvic Fleas together with Rotifers (rotifers), Gastrotrichum (bulls, etc.), and Kinorhynchus (anthocephalus, etc.), but the relationship between them is now questionable, and they are now considered independent phyla, and the names Circular Animals and Pelvic Fleas are no longer used.
