Ryosaku Fujita
Born: August 25, 1892 in Niigata
[Died] December 12, 1960. Tokyo Japanese cultural history, archaeologist. Graduated from the Department of History at Tokyo Imperial University in 1918, he served as a professor at Keijo Imperial University and Tokyo University of the Arts, before becoming director of the Nara National Research Institute for Cultural Properties in 1959. In Korea, he investigated the Ogi Songpyeong-dong shell mound and the Daebong-cho dolmen in Daegu, and was also involved in cultural property preservation projects. After World War II, he became the first chairman of the Japanese Archaeological Association in 1948 and engaged in academic activities, conducting investigations of jadeite excavation sites and the Heijo Palace site. His main works include Korean Archaeological Research (1948) and Korean Studies Essays (1958).

日本文化史,考古学者。 1918年東京帝国大学史学科を卒業し,京城帝国大学,東京芸術大学の教授を経て,1959年奈良国立文化財研究所所長となる。朝鮮において雄基松坪洞貝塚,大邱大鳳町支石墓などの調査を行ない,また文化財の保存事業にも従事した。第2次世界大戦後の 1948年日本考古学協会の初代委員長として学会活動に従事し,硬玉出土遺跡,平城宮址の調査を行なった。主著『朝鮮考古学研究』 (1948) ,『朝鮮学論考』 (1958) などがある。
