[history]
Yao is a temple town and a village town that developed in the middle reaches of the old Yamato River, and was formed as an independent town from Kubo-ji Temple in the early modern period. Kubo-ji Temple began to develop after Renyo preached in the area in 1470 (Bunmei 2), but the direct trigger was the construction of Seisho-ji Temple (later Kensho-ji Temple) during the Meiō era (1492-1501).
