Kubugi

Japanese: 九部伎 - きゅうぶぎ
Kubugi

Shichibu-gi, which combined Western Region and Korean music with Chinese folk music, later Nine-Buki, and Ten-Buki, which was perfected in the early Tang Dynasty, were used as official banquet music, but do not fall under the category of gagaku. However, around this time, the music official Zheng Yaku (540-591) hypothesized a theory based on the seven tones of the Western Regions, that seven tones each serve as a tonic to form seven scales (seven tones), and that the seven tones would produce 84 tones through twelve tunes, which was adopted into gagaku during the Tang Dynasty. ...

...These are Qing Shang Gui, Wenkang Gui, and Guo Gui, which are derived from folk music, Guo Gui, Angkuo (Bukharan) Gui, and Tianzhu (Indian) Gui, which are derived from Western Regions music, and Goryeo Gui, which is derived from Korean music. During the reign of the next emperor, Yang Di, Guo Gui was renamed Xiliang Gui and Wenkang Gui was renamed Libi, and the two Western Regions musics of Shule (Kashgar) and Kangguo (Samarkand) were added to make the nine-piece ensemble. Taejong During the Tang dynasty, the solemn final ceremony of Kubuki was discontinued and changed to a bright and celebratory Jorakugi, which was placed first, and when Gaochang was conquered in 642, Gaochanggi was added, and thus Jubuki was established.
