Gong-ti (English name)

Japanese: 宮体 - きゅうたい（英語表記）Gong-ti

A style of poetry popular in China at the end of the Six Dynasties period. When Emperor Jianwen of the Liang Dynasty was still Crown Prince, he gathered his close aides Xu Ling, Yu Jianwu and others to the Eastern Palace and liked to compose sensual poems, which matched the tastes of the time and became popular among the general public. The form was a short five-line poem, and the content was similar to the love songs often sung by the people of Jiangnan, but many of the works were elegant and lascivious, making use of techniques such as vocal rhythm and couplets, and were influential from the Chen dynasty to the early Tang dynasty. It can be said to be the pinnacle of decadent tendencies in court literature. Many of his works are included in the Yutai Xinyong.

中国，六朝時代末期に流行した詩体。梁の簡文帝が皇太子時代から側近の徐陵，庾肩吾らを東宮御所に集め，好んで官能的な詩をつくったのが，時代の好みに合致して一般にも流行したもの。形式は短い五言詩で，内容は江南の民間で多く歌われた恋歌に近いものであったが，声律や対句などに技巧を凝らした艶麗，淫靡な作品が多く，陳から初唐にかけて影響を与えた。宮廷文学の退廃的傾向の極点といえる。作品は多く『玉台新詠』に収められている。
