A method of foreign exchange settlement in which a creditor collects a claim against a debtor through a bank. Also called a collection foreign exchange. Also called a buying foreign exchange from the bank's perspective. Usually, the creditor issues a bill of exchange addressed to the debtor, which is then discounted or collected by the local bank, and the bank sends the bill to the head office or branch office of the debtor's local bank or to the bank where the creditor resides, requesting payment.
