...The deeds of Kibun were also recorded in essays and researches of the Edo period, but it is difficult to distinguish between the authenticity and falsehood. In the reading book "The Beginning of the Flower Quarter in the Old Songs" (by Shikitei Sanba, 1809), he appears as a judge under the name of "Tsunokuni Bunza," and in the human interest book "Kibun Jitsuden Choja Eitai Kagami" (by the second Chumanjin (Tamenaga Shunsui), during the Bunsei era) and the combined volume "Ogon Suidaijin Sakazuki" (by the second Tamenaga Shunsui, 1854-66), he is the protagonist. In the Kabuki play Satokotobaawase Kagami (written by Namiki Gohei and first performed at the Kiriza Theater in 1797), Sawamura Sojuro III played Kinokuniya Bunzo and received favorable reviews, leading to illustrations in reading books and other publications depicting Bunzaemon in Sojuro's likeness.
