Japanese: 指揮･統制システム - しきとうせいシステム（英語表記）command and control system

It is abbreviated as C ^2. It is a general term for the system consisting of facilities, equipment, communications, procedures, personnel, etc. necessary for commanders at each level of the military to plan and command the activities of their subordinate units and to supervise and control their actions. In military activities, it is extremely important for commanders to quickly and accurately assess the situation, and to plan, command, and control operations in a timely and appropriate manner. However, due to the trends of expanding the battle space due to the advancement and diversification of weapons, the complexity and diversification of battle conditions, and the rapid progress of battles, as well as the high level of specialization of military organizations, it has become an important issue how to process (collect, analyze, evaluate, present, transmit, etc.) the large amount of information related to situation assessment, planning, command, supervision, and control in a timely and appropriate manner.

C²と略称する。軍の各級指揮官が隷下部隊の活動を計画･指令し，その行動を監督･統制するために必要な施設，装備品，通信，手順，要員等で構成された体系の総称。　軍隊の活動においては，指揮官の迅速かつ的確な状況判断，適時･適切な作戦の計画，指令，統制がきわめて重要であるが，兵器の進歩と多様化による戦闘空間の拡大，戦闘様相の複雑化，多様化，戦闘推移の急速化等の傾向と軍の組織の高度な専門分化によって，状況判断，計画，指令，監督，統制にかかわる多種多量な情報の処理(収集，分析，評価，提示，伝達等)をいかに適時に適切に行うかが重要な問題となってきた。
