A group of ancient tombs located on Mt. Asuwaya in the southwest of Fukui city. The group was formed from the 4th to 6th centuries. The main tombs that have been surveyed are the Yamacho Tomb, Tatsugaoka Tomb, Inariyama Tomb, and Hosokiyama Tomb. The shape of the tomb is unknown, but the burial facilities differ from one to the other. A boat-shaped stone coffin is placed inside a pit-type stone chamber in the Yamacho Tomb, a house-shaped stone coffin is placed in the Tatsugaoka Tomb, a boat-shaped stone coffin is placed in the Hosokiyama Tomb, and a wooden coffin is placed on the top of the Tomb in the Inariyama Tomb. Grave goods excavated from the Yamacho Tomb include stone products in the shape of a koto (Japanese zither) and tubular beads, mirrors, stone bracelets, and swords from the Tatsugaoka Tomb, sword fittings made from deer antlers and iron arrowheads from the Hosokiyama Tomb, and cylindrical copperware from the Inariyama Tomb. 福井市街南西部の足羽山に所在する古墳群。群の形成は4世紀から6世紀に及ぶ。調査を経た主要古墳として,山頂古墳,竜ヶ岡古墳,稲荷山古墳,宝石山古墳がある。墳形は判明していないが,古墳ごとで埋葬施設の形態が相違する。山頂古墳では竪穴式石室内に舟形石棺を据え置き,また竜ヶ岡古墳では家形石棺を,宝石山古墳では舟形石棺を,稲荷山古墳では木棺を墳頂に埋置する。副葬品として,山頂古墳から琴柱(ことじ)形石製品,管玉が,竜ヶ岡古墳から鏡,石釧(いしくしろ),剣などが,宝石山古墳から鹿角製刀装具,鉄鏃などが,稲荷山古墳から筒形銅器などが出土した。
