Guipuzcoa Company - Guipuzcoa Company

…a trading company based on the joint stock company system introduced by the Spanish Bourbon dynasty. It is also called the Guipúzcoa Company. The Spanish royal family was forced to reconsider the trade with the Indies based on the traditional floutas system in the face of the large-scale expansion into the Caribbean region by the Dutch, French, and British in the second half of the 17th century, and the growing resentment of local merchants against the trade monopoly of Cadiz and Seville within Spain.
