Vajrabodhi

...A monk who translated Buddhist scriptures during the Tang Dynasty in China, and the fifth patriarch of esoteric Buddhism. He is said to be a member of the royal family of the Indian kingdom of Malaya, and his real name was Vajrabodhi. He became a monk at the Nalanda Temple, studied Vinaya and Yogacara, and received the secret teachings of Shingon Esoteric Buddhism, such as the Vajrasekhara, from Ryuchi.
