Site of Kinowa Fortress - Kinowa Fortress
The remains of an ancient castle fortress in Jowa, Otoyoda, and Kariho, Sakata City, Yamagata Prefecture. Excavated in 1931. The fortress is a square with sides of approximately 720 meters, with an eight-legged gate in the middle of each side, towers at the four corners, and the remains of four buildings in the center. There are theories that it is the site of Dewa Castle or the site of the Dewa Provincial Government Office. National historic site.
