A late stage larva of barnacles, in which the final stage of the triangular shelled nauplius molts and is enveloped in two bivalve-like shells on the left and right. The second antennae degenerate, and an attachment disk appears on the first antennae, and swimming setae appear on the six pairs of thoracic limbs. The thoracic limbs emerge from the abdominal openings of the two shells to swim, but as their mouthparts have degenerated they do not feed. After swimming for a while, the barnacle settles head-down on a rock or other surface using the cement gland secretions released into the attachment disk, discarding its shell and secreting shell plates around it instead, transforming into a young barnacle. Parasitic crustaceans also have a similar larvae.

フジツボ類の後期幼生で，三角形の甲をもつノープリウスの最終幼生が脱皮し，左右2枚の二枚貝状の殻で包まれた状態。第2触角は退化し，第1触角上に固着盤を，6対の胸肢上に遊泳剛毛を生じる。2枚の殻の腹端開口部から胸肢を出して泳ぐが，口器が退化しているため餌はとらない。しばらく遊泳したのち，固着盤の部分に排出されるセメント腺分泌物によって，岩の上などに頭部を下にして定着し，殻を捨て，代りに周囲に殻板を分泌してフジツボ類の幼個体に変態する。寄生性のフクロムシ類も同様な幼生をもつ。
