Toyo [city] - Toyo
An old city facing the Hiuchi Nada Sea in northern Ehime Prefecture. It was incorporated as a city in 1972. The Yosan Line runs through the city. The city is known for its hosho paper, and in addition to rice and wheat, it also cultivates vegetables and seaweed. There are spinning and machinery factories, and the city has been designated a technopolis. In November 2004, it was incorporated into Saijo City along with Komatsu Town and Tanbara Town in Shuso County. Area: 73.89 km2 . Population: 33,485 (2003).
