...It is well known for its light-emitting organs, and the name "Hotarujako" (firefly crab) is said to come from the fact that it glows when crushed to make kamaboko (fish cake). In some regions, it is called Akakuchi, Kigane, Goso, etc. It is distributed from central Honshu to the East China Sea, the Philippines, India, and South Africa.
