A perennial plant of the lily family (APG classification: Liliaceae). The stems are 40-80 cm tall and curve as they hang down. The leaves are lanceolate and grow in two rows on the left and right sides of the stem. From September to October, large yellow flowers bloom one at a time from each leaf axil, totaling a dozen or so. It grows on rocky cliffs in the central Kii Peninsula of Honshu.
