Kanto Goryo

Kamakura Shogunate Estates. Manors where the Shogunate was the head of the Shogunate and the lord of the Shogunate. They are distributed throughout the country from Tohoku to Kyushu. They are sometimes called public lands, whereas the estates of Gokenin (vassals of the shogunate) are called private lands. Many of the Kanto Goryo were originally Taira estates, which were confiscated by the Imperial Court and then given to Minamoto no Yoritomo (Taira confiscated official lands). Some of the estates were manors of the Minamoto clan, and some were confiscated during the Jōkyū War (1221). The management of the Kanto Goryo was carried out by the Shogun's Household Management Office, and Gokenin were often dispatched to the area as custodians.

鎌倉将軍家領。将軍家が本所(ほんじょ)・領家(りょうけ)となっている荘園(しょうえん)。東北から九州にかけて各地に分布する。御家人(ごけにん)の所領を私領というのに対して、公領ということもある。関東御領の多くは元は平家領の荘園で、いったん朝廷に没収ののち、源頼朝(よりとも)に与えられたもの（平家没官領(もっかんりょう)）である。源家累代の荘園、承久(じょうきゅう)の乱（1221）による没収地などもある。関東御領の管理は、将軍家政所(まんどころ)が行い、現地には御家人が預所(あずかりどころ)として派遣されることが多かった。
