...It has particularly good castability and is suitable for thin and complex shapes, but its strength is not high. (d) The Al-Si-Mg alloy (AC4A, AC4C) is made by adding Mg to silumin, which has good castability, and by utilizing the precipitation hardening of Mg ₂ Si by heat treatment to increase its strength; it is also called gamma silumin. The Al-Si-Cu alloy (AC4B) is made by adding Cu instead of Mg to gamma silumin, giving it hardening properties by heat treatment; it is also called copper-containing silumin.
