Omaezaki [town] - Omaezaki

Japanese: 御前崎[町] - おまえざき
Omaezaki [town] - Omaezaki
It is a former town in Haibara County in southern Shizuoka Prefecture. It occupies a raised sea-cut plateau about 40m above sea level, with Omaezaki Lighthouse at the tip of the cape. A settlement has developed around Omaezaki Port, and the town engages in inshore fishing and the cultivation of vegetables and flowers, but as Omaezaki Port is inconvenient for deep-sea fishing, it bases itself in Yaizu and Shimizu. Sand dunes continue along the coast facing the Enshu Nada Sea, and a triangular stone (a natural monument) has been found in the Shirowa area. In April 2004, it merged with Hamaoka Town in Ogasa County to form Omaezaki City. 12.18 km2 . Population: 11,493 (2003).
