Prince Kaminoge - You who won't bite

...A scholarly monk in the late Nara and early Heian periods. His common name was Kamitsukenu no Kimi, and he was from Hirose County, Yamato Province. He was sent to China at the age of 25 to study in China, where he studied both the Yogacara and Lotus Sutra sects. He stayed in China for 31 years, was the second of the 100 high seats, and wrote works such as "Hokkekyo Kosan" and "Yuishiki Ronsenki", and brought back over 500 volumes of the Sacred Teachings. When Myoichi of Todaiji Temple asked him about the doctrine of the sect, Gyoga was at a loss for words, and Myoichi severely criticized him for not achieving results from his study abroad and wasting national funds. Gyoga felt deeply ashamed, and worked hard to study and write many commentaries such as "Mahaprajnaparamita Treatise", "A Brief Commentary on the Vimalakirti Sutra", and "Lotus Sutra Texts"....
