Kanto

...Striped and checkered fabrics imported from the Muromachi to Edo periods. Also written as Canton, Hanto, Hanto, and Handan. Most of them are striped silk fabrics that are thought to have been produced in the southern part of China, but some of the fabrics known as famous Kando are also made of striped cotton from Southeast Asia.
