〘 noun 〙 A person whose occupation is preaching. A person who preaches about the doctrines and teachings of gods, Buddha, sects, etc. ※Uji Shui (around 1221) 5 "When Nakatane took up the sermon and gave it a more powerful speech than this one, it was said to be a dog's turd sermon." ※Kōya Hijiri (1900)〈Izumi Kyoka〉 2 "I heard later that he was a preacher of honor for the sect, a great monk named Socho of Rokumyō-ji Temple."
