…It appeared as a city of Wei from the Spring and Autumn period, and when Zhao was established as the capital at the beginning of the Warring States period (386 BC), its advantageous location made it a trading center for goods, and it prospered as one of the major cities where merchants from all over the country gathered. When Zhao was destroyed by Qin, it became Handan County (228 BC), and during the Han dynasty, the clan was feuded and the Zhao Kingdom was established, but Handan's prosperity only lasted until the Qin and Han dynasties. After that, it gradually declined as it was no longer a political center, and as Handan County, it belonged to Wei County or Guangping County during the Three Kingdoms period, to Cizhou after the Tang, and to Guangping Prefecture during the Ming and Qing dynasties, and until recent years it has mainly served as a distribution center for agricultural products from a region. …
