Fog droplets are several microns to tens of microns in diameter, and there are anywhere from a few to several hundred of them in 1 cm3 of air. The amount of water present as fog droplets in a unit volume is called the fog water content, which is 0.1 to 2 g per 1 m3 for sea fog and 0.01 to 1 g for radiation fog. The greater the fog water content, the lower the visibility generally becomes; at 0.1 g/m3, visibility is on the order of several hundred meters, but at 0.5 g/m3 it is 100 m, and at 2 g/m3 it is several tens of meters.
