Yusenan - Guseinan

A calligrapher from the early Tang Dynasty in China. His pen name was Bo Shi. He was from Yuyao, Yuezhou (Yuyao County, Zhejiang Province). He was known for his love of learning from an early age, and studied under Gu Ye King of Wu County, the author of "The Jade Scriptures," and excelled in poetry and prose. He served under the Southern Dynasty's Chen Emperor and then Emperor Yang of Sui, before returning to the Tang Dynasty. He studied calligraphy under Wang Xizhi's calligraphy under the monk Zhiyong, who lived at the end of the Southern Dynasty, and showed great talent. He was praised as one of the three great calligraphers of the early Tang Dynasty, along with Ouyang Xun and Chu Suiliang. In the Tang Dynasty, he was highly valued by Emperor Taizong, and was promoted one after another, eventually becoming the Duke of Yongxing County. Emperor Taizong praised Senam for the five great qualities he possessed: virtue, loyalty, erudition, literary skill, and letters. His handwriting is known in the Confucius Temple Monument, the Tombstone of the Duke of Runan, and the Records of Records.
