…For pigs, the amount of blood is about 2.3 liters per animal, and for cows, it is about 10 liters. However, because this blood is easily contaminated and spoiled during processing, for technical and hygienic reasons, most of it is simply processed into dried blood meal and used as livestock feed or fertilizer. However, blood contains 18-20% protein and is highly nutritious, and in Europe and the United States, it is being used as a food source to replace plant proteins such as soybeans and wheat.
